The Abramovich File
The Abramovich File is a weighty set of dig reports written by the late-19th and early-20th century explorer, Gregori Yusefov Abramovich The bulk of the file concerns a six month excavation on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda in 1894, which uncovered a wealth of Old Kingdom treasures, including numerous shabti figures and ‘magical’ instuments. Among the find was a bundle of papyrus pages which Abramovich had carefully bound into a leather cover to form the Codex.
The file also contains details of less successful digs, undertaken in search of the key to understanding the Codex, and notes on his fruitless attempts to decrypt it.
